About
3DVinci
My name is Bonnie Roskes, and I am
the creator of 3DVinci.
My background is
in engineering, but I have much more fun showing people how to use great modeling applications.
3DVinci started
life as F1 Books, offering professional-level books on SketchUp, Piranesi, OneCNC, and other applications. I started writing
tutorials for SketchUp back in 2002, when hardly anyone had even heard
of SketchUp (or Bonnie Roskes for that matter).
We continue to produce much-acclaimed materials for the professional level, and have
added our great kids' products to our lineup.
I live in Washington, DC with my husband and 5 kids (no, that's not a typo). Our older kids became interested in
SketchUp while watching their mom design models of houses. When the kids
took over the controls, the houses became a bit more surreal, a LOT more
colorful, and sometimes defied the laws of physics. (Only in SketchUp,
can you place large trees inside a kitchen.)
So I started doing demos of SketchUp
in local schools, and realized how great a design tool it is for kids (the
teachers were pretty into it, too!) Very few teachers had heard of it, and
many expressed wishes that there would be some teaching materials about
it. And that's how 3DVinci
was born. My goal is to spread the word about this fun
and educational tool that provides endless possibilities for kids in school,
at home, and anywhere. |
